Data Fellows has selected the topic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in CHHS
For the 20-21 academic year, the CHHS Data Fellows Team, in collaboration with Dean Lounsbery and Associate Dean Dr. Ostergren, has selected the topic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in CHHS (DEI). This topic connects to both the University Beach 2030 strategic priority “Diversity is our Strength” as well as the college priority, “Designed Culture and Climate”.
This is a huge undertaking that cannot be solved in one academic year. This year the team’s goal is to provide a snapshot of the current state of DEI in our college and start a focused investigation into how college policies specifically impact Black students. The team will use existing institutional data to analyze CHHS diversity and understand attrition in our college through the lens of race and ethnicity.
This work will be used to advance DEI in all areas of CHHS, including informing a change in recruitment/outreach, student advising, and curriculum and college policies. All project findings will be shared at the Data Fellows Virtual Symposium in May 2021, as well as distributed to college stakeholders.
