Zachary DooleyÂ
For over 20 years as an industry professional, Zac has contributed to more than 130 innovative medical devices
for spine surgery through dedicated testing and research. Since 2016, Zac has been at Orthofix Medical in
Carlsbad, CA (North of San Diego), Currently, as Sr. Manager of Research & testing, he runs and supervises
employees in the mechanical test lab to execute testing on prototype spine devices for device improvement and
regulatory clearance for jurisdictions around the world. Previously, from 2008-2015, Zac worked at NuVasive
(now a part of Globus Medical) in the research & testing group under Dr. Alex Turner performing standards
based mechanical tests. From 2005 to 2008, Zac worked at the Shiley Center for Orthopaedic Research and
Education (SCORE) at Scripps Green Hospital researching large joint implants and cartilage under Dr. Darryl
¶Ù’L¾±³¾²¹.
Additionally, Zac maintains various volunteer positions with ASTM, ISO, and BMES. For BMES, he is currently
a member of the board of directors, and we was recently named a fellow of the society for his contributions to
BME and medical device standards.
Zac received his undergraduate degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in bioelectronics
engineering with minors in chemistry, biology, and electrical engineering. He also has a Master’s degree in
biomedical engineering from the University of Southern California.
