Chair's Welcome

Welcome to the Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science at É«ÖÐÉ«! We are a dynamic and diverse community of over 50 faculty members and more than 2,000 students committed to advancing the frontiers of computing and engineering. Our programs emphasize academic excellence, hands on learning, and meaningful engagement with industry and society.

Our faculty are actively involved in advanced research across areas such as data science (with various applications including health), artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software engineering, internet of things, embedded systems, and more.

The CECS department offers both undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students for a better future. Our newest undergraduate program launched in Fall 2025, the Bachelor of Science in Applied Data Science, expands opportunities for students interested in data driven fields with applications such as linguistics and health analytics.

Our students gain real world experience through industry sponsored capstone projects, research with faculty, and participation in student led organizations. They also compete and succeed in regional, national, and international competitions.

We are proud of our inclusive environment that empowers all members of our community to reach their full potential. I invite you to explore what CECS has to offer, and I hope you will join us in shaping the future of computing.
