Jessica Liu
Dr. Jessica Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Science at California State University, Long Beach. Dr. Liu completed her postdoctoral research fellowship at the REACH Lab at Stanford University in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent Health, and is a graduate of the Population Health Sciences PhD program at Harvard University. Dr Liu's research focuses on adolescent health, substance use prevention, and school-based interventions. Dr. Liu utilizes mixed-methods community-engaged research to develop and implement more equitable interventions to reduce disparities in substance use outcomes among adolescent and young adults. Her work has also been cited to support local and state-wide tobacco control policies. As a first-generation college student herself, Dr. Liu is passionate about teaching and mentoring first-generation and underrepresented students in STEM pursue higher education and research careers. Fun fact 鈥 her passion for teaching even extends to fitness, as she is a certified spin, yoga, and group fitness instructor!
