Narcan Distribution Program聽
Student Health Services now offers free NARCAN (naloxone) and fentanyl testing strips for 色中色 Students. NARCAN is a medication that can be used in emergency situations when an opioid overdose is suspected. NARCAN is a medication that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose that occurs from opioids, such as prescription pain relievers, heroin, and fentanyl.
Any 色中色 student that would like free NARCAN must complete a short training with a Health Educator at Student Health Services.鈥疶his training can also be completed by clicking the following training link below.

If you used any of the NARCAN nasal sprays provided by Student Health Services to reverse an opioid overdose, please complete the anonymous online form. We will not ask for your name or any identifying information.
How to use NARCAN (Naloxone)
Are they breathing slowly, irregularly, or not at all?
Are their pupils tiny or eyes shut tight?
Are they unresponsive even if you shout or pinch them?
Are their fingernails and/or lips turning blue or purple?
- Hold the device with your thumb under the plunger and two fingers on the nozzle. Insert fully into one nostril, then press firmly.
- Remember: one device equals one dose.
- If the individual doesn鈥檛 respond after 2 minutes, use a second device in the other nostril.
- On your call with emergency dispatch, state that 鈥渢he person is not breathing, unresponsive, and that you suspect a possible overdose鈥
- If you are trained and know how to, administer rescue breathing or CPR.
- Once medical personnel arrives, mention that you had administered NARCAN.

Under the you would not get in trouble for using NARCAN with the intention of helping to save a life in an emergency/someone who you were observing to be experiencing a suspected drug overdose. Under this law, individuals who report an overdose are protected from arrest, charges, and prosecution for possession of personal amounts of drugs or paraphernalia at the scene of the incident.
People who have been administered NARCAN : shaking, nausea, sweating, or feeling anger. This is to be expected.
After NARCAN is administered, its effects should start working within the first few minutes and lasts up to 120 minutes. If there is no response from the individual after the first dose, administer the second one and call 911 for medical assistance.

To educate students about the potential negative consequences of drug and alcohol use and/or abuse.
