Thrive

The goal of wellness coaching is to identify and create the conditions in life that lead to a life of thriving and optimal performance. Wellness coaching enhances overall well-being through empowering conversations which help to identify and utilize personal strengths to achieve goals.
Wellness coaching uses a person’s own motivations and strengths to support behavior changes through a collaborative, non-judgmental partnership. A wellness coach works with the client to help create a vision for the future, set and achieve goals, balance dimensions of health and wellness, and learn resilience and coping skills.
Coaching takes place in a safe, supportive environment where identification of character strengths, understanding obstacles and supportive measures one’s are looked at in depth. This strengths-based approach will enhance self-acceptance; give strategies to navigate any transitions a student maybe facing; and help them thrive.
Coaching topics can include, but are not limited to,
- stress management
- nutrition
- sleep
- relationships
- academics
- procrastination
- physical activity

What does coaching involve?
The free coaching program occurs over a one-semester time frame in which the student will meet with a WellCoaches © Certified Health and Wellness Coach for 3-4 sessions. Students are either referred by a campus employee or self-referred. Student may contact us via email, walk in or call us to schedule the first session.
The first session is about one hour. Prior to this session, some online questionnaires must be completed. Development of an overarching vision and two to three goals are created during the first session. Two to three follow up sessions (about 30 minutes each) will occur over the semester. Worksheets, articles, referrals, or encouragement regarding the goals may be provided between sessions.
Is coaching the same thing as therapy?
No, Wellness Coaching is different. Your coach will determine at the first session if therapy may be better suited for your situation.
