Outstanding Staff Award Recipients

Anthony Saucedo

This year, we are proud to recognize Anthony Saucedoas the recipient of the 2026 Staff Council Outstanding Staff Award, an honor that reflects not only his exceptional professional contributions but also the energy, positivity, and sense of community he brings to California State University, Long Beach.

For more than 15 years, Anthony has been a dedicated member of The Beach family, serving students, staff, and the campus community with unwavering commitment and pride. Recently promoted to Executive Coordinator for Student Affairs, Anthony is best known for his work supporting Student Affairs. While his role has included serving as Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs, his impact has always extended far beyond a single office. His promotion reflects what so many colleagues already knew: Anthony serves the entire division with dedication, care, and excellence.

Anthony plays a vital role in coordinating division manager meetings and large-scale all-staff gatherings that bring together hundreds of Student Affairs employees. Yet his contributions go far beyond organization. He has a remarkable ability to create spaces where staff feel welcomed, informed, and appreciated. Through his thoughtful planning, he helps foster a culture of collaboration and belonging throughout the division.

Known affectionately by many as Student Affairs’ “hype person,” Anthony is a champion for staff morale and engagement, two of the critical missions of Staff Council. He continuously seeks opportunities to celebrate colleagues and strengthen connections across the division. From organizing the beloved Catch Up and Coffee gatherings to coordinating bowling outings and summer Catch Up and Kona (ice) events, he creates moments that bring people together and remind us of the importance of community and the value of interaction with our colleagues.

His commitment to service extends beyond Student Affairs gatherings. During the holiday season, Anthony leads the SA annual holiday gathering and toy drive in partnership with the Long Beach Firefighters’ Spark of Love campaign, inspiring colleagues to give back to families throughout the community. Through these efforts, he helps strengthen not only our campus culture but also our connection to the broader Long Beach community- another important mission of Staff Council.

This year, Anthony further demonstrated his leadership skills by serving as Co-Chair of the Latinx Faculty and Staff Association. In this role, he has helped create programs and events that foster cultural pride, strengthen engagement, and build meaningful connections among faculty, staff, and students. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to inclusion, representation, and belonging for all members of our campus community.

Anthony is also an enthusiastic supporter of campus traditions and Staff Council initiatives. Whether encouraging colleagues to participate in Spooktacular, helping the division proudly compete in the costume contest (with several wins!), or rallying participation in beloved campus events like the annual golf cart parade, he embodies the spirit and pride that make ɫ��ɫ such a special place to work and thrive.

Through his leadership, enthusiasm, and genuine care for others, Anthony has helped cultivate a stronger, more connected staff community and contributed to the positive workplace culture that defines The Beach.
