“You don’t work for me, you work with me,” master teacher, Tami Saiki, of Torrance’s Seaside Elementary summed up the collaborative goal of the master teacher experience at the Master Teacher Institute held this summer in Seal Beach.

CED alumna, Janetta McDowell (MS, SDHE ’00) has been named director of first-year and transition experiences at Cal Poly Pomona.

This summer, Interim Department Chair of Teacher Education, Dr. HuongTran Nguyen, traveled as part of a six-person ɫ��ɫ delegation to China. The American Educators’ Delegation was sponsored by ɫ��ɫ’s Confucius Institute and led by its Director, Heidi Zhang.

Machine-building, robot-making, finger print dusting, 3D pens, skull investigation, and rocket launching. It’s all in a week’s work for Dr. Cathrine Maiorca and her team of pre-service teachers at the College of Education’s yearly STEM @ the Beach summer camp.

CED alumna, Dr. Kathryn Mueller, (SDHE ’97) has received the Pillar of the Profession Award from NASPA, the leading association for the advancement, health, and sustainability of the student affairs profession.

Dr. Corinne Martinez will present the keynote address at the upcoming International Seminar of the Japanese Society for the Study of Career Education at Waseda University, Tokyo.

Liberal Studies Department Chair, Dr. Jessica Pandya, recently traveled to Australia to present her research on digital literacy and technology.

Emely Lopez, who will earn a B.A. degree in Liberal Studies, plans to spend her working life helping others achieve success in their own educations. Lopez, whose parents came to the United States from Mexico as young adults, is the first member of her family to go to college.

Mary Stanton is a tireless educator whose extensive career has impacted countless students and improved the institutions of California’s third-largest school district, Long Beach Unified. She earned her degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Music Education in 1965 and has been dedicated to the development of our school system ever since.

Educational Leadership Ed.D. alumnus, Dr. Paul de Dios was selected as the Vice-President of Student Services at Cypress College.
